Latest headlines - All in a minute!

Tried RSS? Well, if you haven't, its high time you check out a website which is RSS enabled. RSS stands for RDF Site Summary which is an XML-based metadata description and syndication format. Sounds like Greek and Latin? Yeah, thats how it seemed to me as well, when Nandu asked me "Hey, do you know what RSS is?". The answer which instantly came out was "Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh!" :-)

Nandu then walked me through the entire process of creating a "Live" bookmark. He went to CNN website and added the CNN RSS feed to our Firefox bookmarks. Unlike static bookmarks which store links to variuos information/news, these RSS feeds keep updating the bookmark as and when an update happens. This way, all you need to do it run your cursor through the list of Dynamic bookmarks and you get a glimpse of the latest updates in each website. Cool, aint it? I've tried many news websites like TOI, ET, CNN and they all work like magic. Some websites like Indian Express do not have the RSS feed in the address bar, but if you scroll down a lil towards the end of the page, (Or look for 'RSS' in some nook or corner of the webpage) you can see the link to the RSS.

This is one of the most wonderful things I have come across and it helps me browse through news items in a jiffy. Check out maadi :-)

Why don;t you try and RSS reader. The following website has a cool RSS reader called GreatNews and it's an addictive tool I must say. You can create Channel Groups, add infinite channels and as the websites can updated, your reader has the latest news. I'm using it and enjoying it. So do try!
