Another Mandal commission?
The reservation quota system has really created a huge impact on the medical community. They have taken the attack on the Congress Government. They have a point in saying that the country’s need is for more 'technically qualified' doctors, not more reservations. Especially in the field of medicine, people are in need of doctors who have 'earned' their degree, and not 'gained' their degree through the reservation system.

The Government has proposed an additional 27 per cent quota which will hike quotas up to 49.5 per cent. (At present, there is a 22.5 per cent reservation in all government institutions for scheduled castes and scheduled tribes.) It is even more troubling because the number of medical seats is already limited. This really discourages an ambitious student who aspires to get a medical seat through general merit. The proposal to bring in reservation to the esteemed institutions like the IITs, IIMs and the private companies like Infosys is more agonizing. This system is definitely going to bring a halt to the growing power of our nation.
Mr. Arjun Singh has blundered by bringing out this reservation policy. Our esteemed PM and other great leaders have kept mum in this issue as Mr Singh claims that this is the decision of the Parliament. This really surprises me and I wonder how low The Congress can stoop down. Congress has been like a leech, sucking blood from the common masses ever since the days we have climbed down the trees. As citizens of the nation, we elect these people to rule us in the hope that our nation will get steered towards a better future. But with such a reservation policy, Mandal Commission Part Two seems to be inevitable. What I fail to understand is that even after about 60 years of Independence, why do the urban SC/ST and OBCs even require any quota? Right from their grandfather days, they have had a huge pie in Government jobs, Engineering/Medical colleges. For how many more decades do they want to enjoy the benefits of reservation?! Children of SC/ST Bankers, Lawyers and Professors are the ones that are actually benefitting from the reservation system rather than the tribes that live in the forests. If the Government is really concerned about the future of our nation, it should consider bringing in a reservation system for economically backward people regardless of caste instead of trying such political gimmicks. More importantly, the quota system should be open only to those whose parents have not availed the 'reserved' seats. Alternatively, children of parents who have benefitted from the reservation system should not be allowed to avail any reservation. One generation is more than sufficient for a family to come up the economic ladder!

@Nandini: Hey, thanks buddy. So how did you do ur exams?
Hello,
Nice to see back in action. I thought you had abandoned your blog.
Funda behind reseravtion is that that next year Uttar Pradesh goes to Poll so they needed some issue to go and grab some votes from Mulayam Singh Yadav camp.BJP did not speak out as they have just sacked few ministers of OBC background so opposing this would bring more anti OBC and pro forward image for them. And Arjun Singh wanted to be Messiah of OBC as he missed out on PM's Kursi. So here is all the funda. As the middle class does not vote let them go to Hell!!!..
@Sid: Yeah, Im back in action after a chota-sa break :) Good to see you around here!
